What is ABS sheet typically used for?

ABS is the go-to material for enclosures, panel cladding, automotive trim, vacuum-formed components, and any application where rigidity and impact resistance both matter. The textured face on most ABS hides scratches better than smooth gloss plastics, which is why it appears so often inside machinery.

Can ABS be glued or welded?

Yes, ABS solvent bonds beautifully with MEK-based cements and can also be glued with two-part epoxy or hot-melt adhesives. It welds with hot air and a matching ABS rod, although it is more usual to bond it. ABS also paints well after a light scuff, so it adapts to most fabrication workflows.

Is ABS suitable for outdoor use?

Standard ABS yellows and loses impact strength in extended UV exposure, so it is not ideal for unprotected outdoor use. UV-stable grades are available to order. For most outdoor applications a UV-stable acrylic, polycarbonate, or ACP is a better long-term pick.
