Why polycarbonate rather than acrylic for switchboard covers?

Polycarbonate is the standard for electrical covers because it is flame-retardant, very high impact, and clearly visible. Acrylic is brittle and can shatter under a hard knock, which is the last thing you want in front of live switchgear. Most of our switchboard covers are 3mm or 5mm polycarbonate.

Can you machine cut-outs for switches, meters, and indicators?

Yes, send us a marked-up photo or sketch of the existing panel and we route the cover with cut-outs to suit. Standard meter windows, isolator handles, indicator lamps, and breaker rows are all handled regularly. We can also hinge the cover or fit screw fixings depending on access requirements.

Do the covers come with mounting hardware?

We supply the cover ready to install with countersunk screw holes pre-drilled. The actual fixings vary depending on what the panel is mounted to, so we usually leave those for your electrician to spec on site. We can pre-fit lift-off hinges and thumb screws if a hinged cover suits the application better.
