What thickness of acrylic can you laser cut?

We laser cut cast and extruded acrylic from 1mm up to 25mm thick. Sheets up to about 10mm cut cleanly in a single pass, while thicker material runs slower to maintain a polished edge. For acrylic over 25mm, we switch to CNC routing and follow up with flame or diamond polishing if you need a clear edge.

Why does laser cut acrylic have a glossy edge?

The CO2 laser briefly melts the acrylic at the cut line, leaving a smooth flame-polished edge straight off the machine. Cast acrylic gives the cleanest result and is what we recommend for displays, signage, and anything where the edge is visible.

Can you laser cut mirrored or coloured acrylic without damaging the finish?

Yes. We cut mirror acrylic from the front face so the reflective coating on the back stays intact, and we mask coloured and frosted acrylic before cutting to protect the surface from smoke marks. The protective film is left on for shipping so the sheet arrives ready to install.
