Choosing the right paper bag size
Australian paper bags are typically sized by width, gusset and height in millimetres. As a rule of thumb: number 1 and 2 bags suit confectionery and small hardware, number 4 to 8 bags cover bakery and takeaway items, and larger flat bags around 320 x 450 mm comfortably hold A3 prints, calendars and posters. SOS flat-bottom bags stand on their own base, which makes them the standard choice for food delivery and gift packaging. If you are replacing plastic singlet bags, a medium SOS bag with handles is usually the closest like-for-like swap.
Kraft, white or laminated: which stock to pick
Brown kraft is the workhorse: strong, recyclable, compostable and the cheapest per unit in bulk. White paper bags print more vividly and read as more premium on a retail counter. Laminated bags add moisture resistance and a gloss or matte finish for wine, gifts and boutique retail, while window bags let the product show through for bakery and cellar door presentation. All of our paper stocks are food-safe and sourced for the Australian market.
